In general, my primary cycling goal is fitness related. That is, I want to use cycling to improve my physical fitness. Endurance cycling seems to be helping to correct my metabolism, so I should definitely do more of that this year (2024).
However, I have some achievement goals.
I need to start training for speed, and I think the key to this is to start training for power. I have been focusing on distance and endurance, and I've been doing very well with that. However, I need to develop the ability to apply more power for decent periods of time.
Goal: I would like to reach the level of being able to keep up with the group rides at the Arnold Trek shop. I need to ride some of those routes and see how I do.
I am going to create a "P-Train" activity profile that basically nags me if I fall below a minimum average power. I will start riding short rides, going as long as I can at that power output. Over time, I hope to extend those rides longer.
I have a huge weakness when it comes to climbing. I need to focus more on climbing. Specifically, I want to become capable of the steeper climbs in West County.
I need to ride St. Joe State Park more.
It will be more bikepacking and centuries for 2026.
I need to finish planning and execute my plan to Tour the Florida Keys in the spring of 2026.
I need to go on a gravel ride in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Should I just do a self-supported ride, or should I find a group ride?
In addition to the Ride the Rivers Century, I should see about doing a self-supported century.
Plan: RtR 2026
