I would like to build a second wheelset for my Farley fatbike. It would greatly simplify my life if I could have separate summer and winter wheelsets. The rims I have now are good for snow, but I could get lighter rims for summer. How much would that cost? Probably in the neighborhood of $1200.
I will use the same Bontrager hubs on this wheelset as I am using on the existing wheels. This should minimize the amount of adjustment I must do each time I swap wheels.
The wheels have been built. The rim tape still allows a slow leak of air, and I don't like the valve stems I installed. I will make a third attempt to tape the rims, and if it doesn't get any better, I give up and put sealant in the tires. Alternatively, I could rebuild the wheels neoprene washers.
